Blackbeard led the charge over the rail to Maynard’s sloop. By the end of the battle, Maynard had been wounded by Blackbeard’s cutlass, but the giant pirate lay dead, shot 5 times and stabbed over 20. Blackbeard’s men surrendered upon seeing their expired captain.
