Swivel Guns

To help correct this tactical weakness, the pirates mounted shorter swivel guns on their gunwales. These guns were about 3 feet long and could be detached and carried to opposite ends of the ship during battle. Pirates were able to swing these guns not only up and down, but also left and right.
