Hand Grenades and Smokebombs

Pirates in the 1700’s often had on board ship all the key ingredients for making the simple grenades of their age: empty rum bottles, the same black powder that was plunged into their guns and the identical hemp fuse used to light their cannons, cut into small pieces.
